So yes, Yushi and I are now back in Japan, working our butts off.
At first, this India trip was supposed to be a vacation, since it was during our holiday period, but sure enough it turned out to be another one of those work trips!
Keita has been gone since the end of July, so by the time Yushi and I got to join him, he was eating like an Indian. Look!!
We fist went to Kolkata where we were able to look around the factory that we have a contract in making our handbags. Starting with the president, everyone, I swear EVERYONE was so welcoming! We would be touring around the factory, and the workers would stop doing what they were, and they would show us something else interesting. If I were them, I would be annoyed to have someone come in and stopping my job, but they did not seem to mind at all.
This guy who is in charge of this particular factory was so kind he took us out on the weekend to a near by beach. And when I say near by, I mean only 5 hours of driving! That was so far away, and we stayed there for one night and came back the next evening.
O, and talking about driving, Have you ever been to Paris around the gate of triumph? The drivers are so scary, and you can't imagine getting out of the part of the city alive. Well, take that and times it by....a hundred??? They are INSANE!! Traffic lanes do not matter to them. If they see a tiny bit of space between the 2 cars in front of you, you squeeze in. Red lights do not matter. Again, if there is any kind of gap in the traffic. you dive in. Also, noise does not matter to them either. Japan has never sounded so quiet. I kid you not, ladies and gentlemen. I have been driving for more than 10 years now, and I love driving. all of you know that, but I just couldn't imagine driving in this country, and enjoy one bit.
Then, we went to Chennai. Here we went to the same company that makes our handbags, but the Chennai factory. Again, ALL the workers welcomed us. We did not communicate with as many people I would have liked to due to lack of my language skills, but they still had warm welcoming smiles for us. Here we went to a few tannaries that make leather for us. These are the people that buy raw skins, and make them into the form that we are familiar with being rolled up and all.
O wait, my favorite topic. FOOD!! WAY SPICY! towards the middle of the trip, my tummy gave up, and couldn't eat much, but towards the end it got better. YUMMY Curry, Naan, Dal, wraps, and Lassi! not too crazy about the sweets, but man the Chai was like from another world! I know I had more than I was supposed to. It seemed we were eating every other second!
Keita was talking more then ever when we met up with him. He could not speak Japanese for a little more than 2 weeks, and I guess he was so exhausted. I was too tired to carry a conversation with him, so him and Yushi were like best friends talking the whole time. :) felt a little sad when Yushi and I had to leave him in India and come back to Japan.
Here are some pictures that were taken during the trip. If you want more, check out Yushi's Facebook page, and he will have more for ya!
I'll update you on my new apartment next time!
Love ya! leave a message!
muah!
